Cleaning Preparation Checklist

How to get your home ready before a Hlavinka Cleaning Services visit.

A little preparation before your scheduled cleaning helps us focus our time on actually cleaning your home, rather than working around obstacles.

Before we arrive

  • Clear away clutter and valuables from surfaces. Countertops, tables, and floors free of loose items let us clean thoroughly and efficiently, and keeps your valuables out of the way during the visit.
  • Secure any pets. Whether that means a separate room, a crate, or having them elsewhere during the visit, this keeps pets comfortable and out from underfoot while we work.
  • Let us know about access ahead of time. If you won’t be home, arrange a key, code, or lockbox in advance — you don’t need to be present for your cleaning as long as access is arranged.
  • Flag anything unusual. If there’s a specific area of concern, a fragile item, or something you’d like extra attention on, mention it when you request your quote or beforehand — the more specific, the better.

What you don’t need to do

  • You don’t need to do a “pre-clean” before we arrive — that’s the whole point of the visit.
  • You don’t need to provide any cleaning supplies or equipment — we bring our own.
  • You don’t need to move heavy furniture — let us know if there’s an area behind or under something heavy you’d like included, and we’ll work with what’s reasonably accessible.

A quick pre-visit checklist

  • Countertops and surfaces cleared of personal items
  • Valuables put away
  • Pets secured or arrangements made
  • Access arranged, if you won’t be home
  • Any special requests communicated in advance

If you’re not sure whether something needs to be done ahead of time, it’s always fine to ask when you request your quote.
